IN THE LIBRARY/FROM MS. PARKER

The Six Flags Read to Succeed program is kicked off last week! Each child received a reading log and description of the program in the library. For any child who wishes to participate they must fill out a log showing they have read independently for six hours. The logs must be turned in by February 6th in order to receive a FREE ticket to Great America.

Any questions please contact Ms. Parker, Shabonee Librarian (parker.d@nb27.org).

Updates from the Shabonee PTA

Music to Their Ears!

Have you asked your children how great the musical playground is yet?  They started making music on it this past Monday, and it is beautiful! Ask your kids what their favorite part of the musical playground is while carving pumpkins! It will be music to your ears too.

Box Tops for Education Collection

Thank you to all our families that sent in Box Tops! We will let you know which classroom is the winner next week.

Earthly Tip from the Environmental Committee

You've carved your pumpkin, roasted seeds, and enjoyed pumpkin treats. Now what to do with the rotting jack-o-lantern?

Don't Trash It, Smash It!

Each year, millions of pumpkins are thrown in the garbage, contributing more than 1.3 billion pounds of waste to landfills. Now that's scary!

Glenview Park District is hosting a Pumpkin Smash and Bash on November 4th. Burn off that sugar high by destroying pumpkins with bats or rolling them down hills. Remains will be gathered up for compost at Wagner Historical Farm. http://www.glenviewparks.org/event/pumpkin-smash-bash/

Too Much Halloween Candy? SHARE IT!!

Looking to share with other children who may not have been so fortunate to have candy? Please drop your candy at ANY of the D27 schools from November 1st- 6th!

Make a difference!
