Hickory Point
Broadcast Club
The Broadcast Club is for any second grade student who is interested in reporting, filming, interviewing, taking pictures and other aspects of putting together a morning news show. We will have five crews. Each crew will observe for one day and then work on reports to broadcast and film for about six weeks. All interested students will be able to participate. It is important that the student is able to get to school by 7:55 a.m. for the 6 weeks of his/her crew dates.
Grade: Second Grade
Meeting days/times: Tuesday and Friday, 7:55 a.m. - 8:25 a.m.
Champ Camp
Champ Camp is for Hickory Point’s youngest bulldogs - Kindergarteners! In this club we will meet new friends from other classes, play games, do crafts, dance, and have fun! Students will also become more familiar and comfortable at Hickory Point. There are four different sessions: Fall I, Fall II, Winter, and Spring. Each session runs for four weeks.
Grade: Kindergarten

Kind Kids
The Kind Kids Club is for any first and second graders that love to promote kindness. During each 4 week session we will play games, read stories, and make projects that will promote kindness throughout our school and community.
Grades: First and Second Grade
Meeting days/times: Wednesday, 7:55 a.m. - 8:25 a.m.
Little STEAMers
Come explore and design with various technology programs including coding and interactive tools that focus on creation and innovation. Each Steam Club session is six weeks in length.
Grades: First and Second Grade
Meeting days/times: Monday (First Grade) 7:55 a.m. - 8:25 a.m. / Wednesday (Second Grade) 7:55 a.m. - 8:25 a.m.
Newcomers
The Newcomers Club encourages all new students at Hickory Point to become familiar with their new school. The children do many ice breaker activities in order to learn more about one another. Students will participate in games, hands on activities and lunch and learn topics. The group is to help foster a familiarity with Hickory Point School while building positive relationships with their new classmates.
Grade: First and Second Grade
Meeting days/times: Monday (First Grade) / Tuesday (Second Grade) during lunch/recess 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
3R's Club
The 3R's Club will focus on the environment and helping our Earth. It will be focused around Earth Day, celebrated on April 22nd. The Three R’s Club will help get us ready to celebrate Earth Week, and will also teach students a little bit more about the three R’s – Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Students will participate in projects during the weeks leading up to Earth Week! Your student will be assigned EITHER a Tuesday morning or a Thursday morning session. Each session runs for four weeks.
Grade: First Grade
Meeting days/times: Monday, 7:55 a.m. - 8:25 a.m. for half of first grade; Thursday, 7:55 a.m. - 8:25 a.m. for other half of first grade.
Shabonee
Shabonee has a variety of clubs for third, fourth and fifth graders that meet before, during lunch/recess or after school. Parents are responsible for arranging transportation to or from school for all extracurricular activities. If you would like to be added to the wait-list for a club, please contact the school secretary.
Art Club
Create seasonal and/or holiday crafts, work on fun community service art projects, create artwork for the library bulletin board, and/or enjoy open studio time to explore areas of personal interest.
Grade Levels: 3, 4
Meeting dates/times: Wednesdays and Thursdays during lunch/recess
Book Match
Book Match is a recreational reading program for 4th and 5th grade students involving friendly competition. To be a part of the team, student members are asked to read 10 or more books from a list of 50 titles before the month of April. All books are available at the Shabonee library. We will meet as a team on Thursday and Friday during lunch and recess to practice and strategize for the final tournament in April.

Broadcast Club
During this school year, 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to participate in Shabonee’s Broadcast Club. As a member, students will have the opportunity to participate in all of the different roles of the production process. They will plan, report, film, anchor, direct, and produce news broadcasts for the Shabonee student body.
The Tuesday meetings are the heart of the broadcast. This is when the broadcast is planned, information is gathered, scripts are written, and the entire program comes together for a trial run. The final production is taped on Wednesdays during the lunch/recess period.
Grade levels: 4, 5

Chess Club
Come learn how to play chess, or challenge someone to a game. Groups will meet once a week, and will be divided into sessions by grade level. This club is open to beginning chess players as well as advanced players. We hope you can join us!

Meeting dates/times: Monday or Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:40 a.m.
ShAb Club
ShAb is looking for Dolphins who love to help other kids, make contributions to our school, participate in planning our spirit days, and make morning announcements! If this sounds like you, then ShAb is the club for you! Join us for two Thursdays a month at lunch and recess to be part of a group of hard-working dedicated students who help make a difference at Shabonee.
Grade levels: 3, 4, 5
