ADOPT A SUPPORT STAFF MEMBER

Classroom teachers get a lot of love but what about our amazing support staff?  Let's show them some love too during Teacher Appreciation Week!  We're running an "Adopt a Support Staff Member" activity!  Spoil your support staff member with small treats during Teacher Appreciation Week May 5th-9th! You can send a little surprise each day or a big thing or two- it's up to you! The only requirement is that you send something MONDAY May 5th to kick off during the week! There will be a cart in the vestibule of the school each day to collect gifts OR you can send something with your child.

All support staff members are listed on the sign up. Please sign up for anyone that you would like to “adopt" here.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

School Supply kits for the 2025-2026 school year are now on sale. The kits include every item (except headphones) that your student will need for their school year. Buying prepackaged kits in bulk saves money and is so convenient - the kit will be in your child’s classroom on the first day of school. Click this link and enter our school code SHA082 (3 letters/3 numbers). Remember: order the kit for the grade your student will be in starting in August 2025. If your student is off to Wood Oaks, you’ll receive a supply list directly from the school over the summer. Order by June 1 for the best price. 

DIVE INTO THE ACTION! VOLUNTEER FOR THE D27 PTA 5K, 1 MILE AND KIDS' DASH  

Ready to pump up the excitement and be a part of the action? We’re on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers like YOU to help make our 14th Annual District 27 PTA 5K, 1 Mile and Kid's Dash, the talk of the town! Whether you're a seasoned cheerleader, are passionate about event planning or just love the buzz of race day, there’s a perfect spot just for you. This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Wood Oaks Green Park and Wood Oaks Jr. High.

This annual event raises money for the Rohrabaugh Scholarship Fund, awarding scholarships to senior students at Glenbrook North High School who graduated from Wood Oaks Junior High School. 

SQUARE 1 ART: Catalogs distributed

What amazing artists we have at Shabonee!  If your student submitted a hard copy of their Square 1 Art masterpiece, they should have received their custom catalog and stickers shortly.  If they missed the deadline to submit the hard copy, you can still upload their art to the Square 1 Art website.  (Please note that the custom catalog and stickers will not be available when you upload your child's art directly.)

You can start shopping immediately!  All items will ship directly to your home within 2-3 weeks of the order date.

SPIRIT WEAR COLLECTION at HICKORY POINT

Drop off your gently used spirit wear in bins that will be located in the front vestibule throughout Earth Week on April 21-25 (at Hickory Point only). Please ensure items are in good condition, no worn out, stained or torn clothing accepted. Collected items will be displayed for families to shop during Family Night on May 30!

FAMILY NIGHT

Spring Family Night will be held on Friday, 5/9 from 4:30-6:30pm. Save the date!

Ms. Reed, Ms. Smith and Ms. Gothelf are retiring at the end of this year and we want to send them off with wonderful memories on how many lives they’ve impacted. Please consider adding any pictures, fun memories or well wishes to the below memory book by April 22!
