The PTA sponsored book fair typically occurs during the week of the fall conferences. Given the concerns related to the pandemic, the book fair will be entirely virtual for two weeks beginning on November 2. To promote a love of reading, have some fun, and encourage and support the PTA's efforts, the staff and I are sharing some of our favorite authors and books with the children. We will also host several literature-related spirit days in the coming weeks.
Shabonee librarian, Mrs. Alexander, and I have posted the first video as a way to kick off this idea. Additional videos will be included on her website in the coming weeks. Tuesday (B Group) and Wednesday (A Group) will be author Roald Dahl spirit day. The children may be familiar with some of his books like Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and many more. We encourage the kids to get creative and pick a character, prop, or innovative idea from one of his books for the day. Fully remote students can do the same from home. Future spirit days will be announced along the way. We hope this will be a fun way to promote reading! Please reference the PTA section of the news for more details about the book fair.
