Shabonee Newsletter - Parent-Teacher Conferences, Valentine's Day, Performances, and more...
Students learn about hand-muscle coordination

We have a few days off for students coming up. Students are not in session on Thursday, February 12, while teachers are having conversations with parents. There’s also no school on Monday, February 16, in honor of Presidents’ Day.

Parent-Teacher Conferences in February (Repost)

Parent-teacher conferences will take place on February 11, 12, & 13 at Shabonee. Conferences are 15 minutes so that parents can meet with both teachers together. It’s important that parents respect this time so that teachers can collaborate with all parents of their student. Parent-teacher conferences are just one opportunity to discuss progress, and parents are welcome and encouraged to reach out to their child’s teachers at any time during the school year. We look forward to positive and collaborative conversations next week!

Valentine’s Celebrations (Repost)

Classroom Valentine celebrations will take place on Friday, February 13, at the end of the afternoon. Children may bring Valentine cards as long as they include everyone in their class to promote inclusion. If children have friends in other classes, those cards should be distributed outside of school since they won’t be able to visit other classrooms during the day. To maintain our safety practices and encourage healthy eating, please do not include candy, even as part of the card. The teachers are talking to the children about this to encourage a fun, happy experience for the whole class. Thank you for being so cooperative in making the parties a happy and safe occasion for everyone.

3rd Grade Performance  Tuesday, February 17 (Repost)

Our third graders are excited to share their music performance, Disney! The Movies! The Magic!, with their families and friends. There are two performances; one for the school at 2:25 and another at 6:30 PM in the Shabonee gym for families. The afternoon performance will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend in the evening. A link to the stream will appear as a pop-up window on our school website shortly before the performance starts. Ms. Simonsen, music teacher, shared information with the third grade students about how to dress. Please dress in Disney apparel or a solid colored shirt.

The doors will open at 6:10 PM for the 6:30 PM performance. Students should report to their classrooms while the audience finds their seat in the gym. Please do not arrive earlier as the building will not be open. We encourage you to carpool with friends and neighbors. Park only in dedicated parking spots and use extra caution when entering and leaving school grounds. Parking is available in the main lot located off Pfingsten Road, the alternate lot located off Moon Hill Drive, and overflow parking is available behind the gym once the parking lots are completely filled. You may enter at Doors A, N, or E beginning at 6:10 PM. The gymnasium has stairs. Please contact the school office in advance if you have special needs accessing the space so that we can make arrangements with you.

Information is posted on the Shabonee Performing Arts page. This page includes information about our music program, upcoming events throughout the year, and so much more. For evening performances, we also include event parking information.
