Congratulations 4th Graders

The fourth graders put on a marvelous performance on Wednesday during the day for the school and in the evening for families. After a few months of effort to practice the songs and routines during music with Ms. Simonsen, the children truly enjoyed themselves and were delighted to have this experience. Thank you to all the staff who helped make this an event for the kids to remember.

Happy Thanksgiving

On behalf of the entire Shabonee staff, we want to wish all of our families a very Happy Thanksgiving next week. We are truly thankful for our collaboration with you throughout the school year. All District 27 schools and offices will be closed for the Thanksgiving break between November 23 and 25. School resumes on Monday, November 28.

Report Cards

Parents can access the first trimester report cards electronically on December 2 after 12:00 PM via Parent Portal. Report cards are available electronically upon the conclusion of the first and second trimesters, and a printed copy will go home with students on the last day of the third trimester.

For instructions on accessing your child’s report card on Infinite Campus, view this 30-second video. The first section of the video is for Wood Oaks students, and the second section addresses kindergarten through fifth grade

 In Summary:

  1. To access your child’s report, log into Parent Portal.
  2. Then on the left click “More.” On the new main window, you can now click Online report cards.
  3. Once you click on that, you will need to choose your child’s name from the drop-down menu, then the report card you wish to view.

Terra Nova Testing November 29 to December 2 (Reminder)

Terra Nova testing will take place during a portion of the morning from November 29 through December 2. We’ll run a special schedule so that children have comparable time with both of their teachers and content areas on those days. To establish an optimal testing environment, please make every effort to ensure that your child arrives at school on time each of these four days. If at all possible, it is helpful to refrain from scheduling appointments during the morning. Students who arrive late will enter the classroom between tests. Some tests are very short, taking only 15 minutes, while others are about 45 minutes. Thank you for your support and cooperation. The results of these assessments will be sent home in late January.

Open Gym on Saturdays at Shabonee and Wood Oaks

The Shabonee and Wood Oaks gyms will be open for basketball for students and community members from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the following Saturdays:

  • Nov. 19, 2022
  • Dec. 3 & 10, 2022
  • Jan. 7, 2023
  • Feb. 4 & 25, 2023
  • March 4 & 18, 2023

The gyms are only open for basketball. Supervision will be provided by our professional staff. Attendees will be expected to follow all rules established by the supervisors. All students in grades K-5 must be accompanied by an adult. We are asking that students in grades K-5 and their parents use the gym at Shabonee. Wood Oaks students (grades 6-8) should use the large Wood Oaks gym located on the west side of the building. High school students and adult community members should use the small Wood Oaks gym located on the north side of the building. All participants must be picked up by 12 p.m. Those attending must sign in and out. The District has found this program to be very successful in the past and we are thrilled to be able to offer it once again!
