Thank You for Participating in Parent-Teacher Conferences

Thank you to our parents for supporting and participating in parent-teacher conferences this past week. We appreciate your collaborative efforts to help our children achieve success. Please feel free to follow up with any of our staff throughout the school year. We are committed to working with you to promote the children’s success.

SAEBRS Screening

Students will participate in the second administration of the Social Academic and Emotional Behavior Rating Scale (SAEBRS) next week. This universal tool focuses on the following areas:

  • Social (Arguing, Temper Outbursts, Disruptive Behavior)
  • Emotional (Sadness, Anxiety, Withdrawal, Lack of Resilience)
  • Academic (Academic Engagement, Production of Acceptable Work, Preparedness).

If a screening shows that a student would benefit from additional support, parents will be contacted and collaborate with the school team to problem-solve and determine the next steps.

Thank you for your support and assistance in ensuring each of our students has the opportunity to achieve academic and social-emotional success.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Math Extensions for Grades 3 & 4 Students

The Math Extensions program is a one-day-per-week pullout opportunity that takes place during the math block for students who qualify for math enrichment. The program serves a very small population of students who meet the program criteria. All children in grades 3 and 4 are reviewed in the fall and winter as part of our process to support learning. Parents of children in grades 3 and 4 have been notified if their student met the established criteria to participate in Session II of Math Extensions. Additional information about math content, the placement process, and program criteria will be updated on the District 27 website.

Valentine’s Day & Classroom Celebrations (final reminder)

Classroom Valentine celebrations will take place on Wednesday, February 14, at the end of the afternoon. Children may bring Valentine’s cards as long as they include everyone in their class. If they have friends in other classes, those cards should be distributed outside of school since they won’t be able to visit other classrooms during the day. To maintain our safety practices and encourage healthy eating, please do not include candy, even as part of the card. The teachers are talking with the children about this to encourage a fun and happy experience for the whole class. Thank you for being so cooperative in making the parties a happy and safe occasion for everyone.
