Thank you to all of the families that supported their children in ShAB’s “Chores for Cheers” activity. The students really took this idea to heart and raised a grand total of $637 to support the Red Cross’s efforts to help those affected by natural disasters this fall. This is a true demonstration of the care and concern instilled for others in our SWIM and social emotional teachings, as well as the life lessons taught at home.
Congratulations to our fourth and fifth grade choirs and Ms. Simonsen for a marvelous performance at Wood Oaks on Wednesday night! Our next music performance is coming up this week on Thursday when our fourth and fifth grade students in band and orchestra perform.
Our winter Band and Orchestra concert will take place on Thursday, December 13th. The students are excited to perform and we look forward to a terrific evening together. All students should arrive at Shabonee at 6:30 PM and go to their designated warm-up space.
- 4th Grade Band: Flex Space
- 5th Grade Band: Courtyard Room
- 4th and 5th Grade Orchestra: Music Room
Parents, family, and friends can go directly to the gym to be seated. The concert begins at 7:00 PM in the gym. This is our largest performance of the school year and families are encouraged to carpool. There are parking lots to the east and west of Shabonee School, as well as overflow parking behind the gym on the blacktop. Please only park in designated parking stalls. Do not park in areas that are identified by parking cones. These areas must remain open to abide by fire code. Violators are subject to ticketing from the Northbrook Police Department. Please drive safely and ensure the safety of others.
December PBIS Goal (2nd posting)
The PBIS structure is intended to help promote positive behaviors throughout the school year and help children to help themselves be better learners. Based on our frequent review of data, the Shabonee PBIS Universal Team has created a goal where the entire school is working on self-control through self awareness behaviors for the month of December. Students will learn and apply strategies that help them focus on keeping hands and feet to themselves, using appropriate voice levels, and to compromise when working collaboratively. Classes will work to earn a dance party on December 21 as an acknowledgement for their efforts.
